There's a picture up on a bulletin board at my parents' house of me and my sister as little kids crawling around inside the dryer. I used to look at that picture and think that we were really cute and unique. Turns out, it's either genetic, or it's just something that all kids eventually do. Lately, Charlie and Ellie have taken to crawling around inside the cupboards here in our Fresno apartment. I'm just waiting for the first nasty slammed finger, but so far so good.Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of the next activity that has passed from one generation to the next in this family. I was too busy with the clean-up and reeling in disgust to bother finding my camera in the moment. There is another picture on that very same bulletin board at my parents' house of me "swimming" in the toilet at about a year old. Yes, I climbed all the way in. And amazingly, I have one of those vague, flash-like memories of it...my foot felt stuck down in the pipe...and the water was cold. Weird. Anyway, things were pretty quiet around here yesterday afternoon at one point, so I knew to search for trouble. I found Charlie in the bathroom fishing toilet paper out of the potty Ellie had just used and forgotten to flush. He was EATING it!!! Ugh. Filthy, disgusting boy. He was so proud of himself and his fantastic find.
