Running the Bases - Take 2

Ellie and Charlie got to run the bases with Joe again on Father's Day.  I went down on the field, myself, to take some more pictures.  My only goal was to finally get one photo with both kids looking at the camera.  Mission accomplished!  Ha.

To treat Joe for Father's Day, I cooked him a super fancy dinner (definitely outside of my comfort zone) and got him a frame for his Stanford diploma....beause, Joe GRADUATED FROM STANFORD two weekends ago!!!  Congratulations, Love!!!

Morning, Daddy!

On Father's Day, Joe slept in while I got myself and the kids ready for church.  Ellie joined me in the master bedroom while I was getting ready, where insisted on trying on every hat of ours she could get a hold of.  She LOVES to dress up and check herself out in the mirror.

As the fun progressed, she decided it was time to start getting her sleeping Daddy dressed.  One hat for him, one hat for her.

Summer Swim

We've started a new routine of going to the apartment pool here in Fresno every morning.  The kids absolutely LOVE the water!  They only  last about 15-20 minutes, but boy oh boy, are they ever pooped afterwards!  Naps immediately follow.

As evidenced by these photos, Eleanor feels quite glamorous in her new swimsuit from her Mimi (Joe's mom).  I promise that I did not put the high heels on her; she INSISTS on wearing those ever day we go to the pool.  She totally reminds me of some 80 year old retiree from West Palm Beach.  Look at that pose!

"Baseball House" Fun

Here are just a few pictures I took of the kids having fun at their "Baseball House" here in Fresno this morning.  They really are such happy kids, and I am loving watching them turn into such good pals.  Ellie just got a new book from her Great Grandma on our last visit down to Pasadena, and she is OBSESSED!  She makes her way back to her bedroom all on her own for some private reading time at least five times a day.  What a nerd!  And Charlie just started doing a real, big boy crawl about ten days ago... it's about time!

Pooped.

All of this moving has really worn my children out.  After two plus weeks here in Fresno, they are just now catching up on their sleep, I swear.  It's really become evident to me that all of the crazy stress I feel with each move we make is equally felt by the kids.  Look at these two!  I think I've officially run them ragged.

Ellie has been a NIGHTMARE lately, too.  Yes, it's the age...2.5 is rough...but I really do think that a lot of it has to do with fatigue and just being out of sorts.  No excuse, though!  That child made me cry in line at Bank of America...yes, tears down the cheeks and all.  She also threw her cup at the babysitter at the gym daycare, as well as pushed some kid there.  Are you kidding me?!  All of you mommies out there, hope that makes you feel just a little bit better about yourself=).

Welcome to Fresno, Borchards!

Well, we're finally settled into our new life in Fresno (at least for the next 2.5 months, that is).  My mom helped me drive the kids up and move into the apartment about two weeks ago.  Wow, so nice to have her help this time around.  Thank you, Momma.  Joe is loving the baseball here, and we're all loving being in California again.  The kids and I have already driven back down to Pasadena for a quick visit, and we'll have family in town over each of the next few weekends.  Aaah, heaven!

Our second day here in Fresno was a Sunday... Ellie's new favorite day of the week, because it's the day she gets to run the bases with Daddy after his game.  Charlie got his first go-around of the whole thing this time, too.  I truly hope that Joe is able to stay in baseball long enough for both of our kids to remember such moments.

The kids and I aren't really on "baseball schedule" yet, nor do I really plan on ever getting us on "baseball schedule" this season.  I just don't know how I'd even begin to get Charlie to stay awake until midnight every night when his natural bedtime since birth has been an Early Bird Special of 6:30pm.  Plus, I swear I'm just absolutely done being a momma come 8 o'clock each night=).  So, that means we hit about three games/week when he's in town, but we only stay for about 2 to 4 innings.  I tried to get them to stay longer tonight, but promptly after inning 4, Ellie flat out told me that she needed to go home.  I was just so thankful that she informed of this need before we had to witness another fall-down-on-the-floor-screech-like-a-she-devil-fit.  As soon as the Queen said the word, we scooted.

Cute story: Ellie and I are really working on her potty training these days.  I'm slowly moving from nice, sympathetic, "at your own pace is fine"-Mommy to mean, let's get this thing done now-Mommy.  Neither tactic has had any success.  Still, I know that I've at least gotten to her a little bit, because she told me two nights ago that the man selling cotton candy at the stadium was "carrying undies."  I guess she thought that the bags with multi-colored layers being held up on a stick resembled the little plastic bags of girly colorful undies I always point out to her and try to bribe her with when we make our Target runs.  Hah!

So far, life is really good here in Fresno.  We are so thankful that Joe is healthy, that he has a job, and that we're near family again.  Please come visit us...anytime!

The Jumparounds Babysit

We have some new babysitters in the Borchard household: The Jumparounds.  They're a group of four adults singing silly songs between shows on Nickelodeon's preschool channel, Noggin.  Ellie is in LOVE.  She especially loves when the young man, named Twist, breaks it down and raps about "going bananas."  Anyway, I found the Jumparounds online, where their music videos are played on repeat.  This morning, I propped both kiddos in front of the computer to enjoy their Jumparounds while I made breakfast in peace.  Kind of naughty, I know, but what a relief to not have Charlie hanging on my hip and Ellie constantly nagging me for "help, please."

No Cute Stories...Just a Cute Baby

I have no cute stories to tell you that go along with these photos of Charlie.  He's just plain cute to look at, don't you think?  The kid LOVES the camera.

Ever Seen a Bare-Bottomed Fairy??

The kids' Great Aunt Laurie just sent a belated gift in the mail in celebration of Charlie's birth.  Well, at least that was her excuse for sending them some super fun presents.  Charlie got some awesome board books, while Ellie got some super special treats just for being the Big Sister.  Laurie fully admitted that the whole "gift for Charlie"-thing was really mostly an excuse to send Ellie her first set of fairy wings and a frilly, flowered, sparkly tutu.  She is in heaven!  I can hardly get the darned things off of her when we leave the house, for bath time, and for bed time!  In fact, she went to the grocery store yesterday morning with the tutu on.  She feels GORGEOUS and keeps telling me, "Mommy, I a cute little fairy."  Our only problem with the whole thing so far is that she hasn't mastered the art of getting the wings back on after she's taken them off.  This usually leads to a not-so-minor meltdown.  What tiny bit of frustration doesn't lead to a major meltdown with Miss Eleanor these days, though?

Oh, and yes, that's a bare bottom you see poking out from underneath that tutu.  She insisted.  Don't worry, she had pants on when she wore the tutu to the market.
