Adjusting to Life with Another One!

LOVING being a mother of two!  We've just had so much help from the Grammies and Grampies on both sides, so the transition has been as easy as possible.  We made it up to Stanford with Joe last Friday, and I can't even begin to say how wonderful it is being a family again.  Joe's mom just left today, so we're on our own now...I'm definitely ready for some routine and to do this on our own.  We'll see how I do and how I feel in a few days!=)  Ellie is adjusting so well to her new little brother.  She calls him by name and asks for "Charlie" all the time...too cute...and she even tries to help out when he's crying by giving him his pacifier.  She sort of smashes it in his face, but hey, it's a nice gesture.  She's got a bit of a 2-year old attitude when she gets tired, but I suppose that's to be expected.  And Charlie's a sweet little guy...such a champion sleeper...wahoo!  Life is good.

Joseph Charles Borchard is Born!

Our little "Charlie" (Joseph Charles Borchard) was born on July 5th in Pasadena at 3:26pm.  He weighed in at 8lbs 4.1 oz and measured 21 and 3/4 inches long.  He has BOATS for feet and long, "spidey" fingers.  He's healthy as can be...and boy, does he have a set of lungs.  For the most part, though, he's calm as can be...what a sweet baby.  He was super easy on me and came into this world after only 2 contractions worth of pushing.  I also got an epidural before I ever felt any pain...SO the way to go!  What a fantastic, enjoyable, romantic day it was for me and Joe!  Ellie loves her Baby Charlie; she can even say his name already.  She's not super happy with me, however, and she's been acting up a bit lately.  I think she's decided that 20 months is the perfect mark for her to enter her "terrible twos."

Last Day of Pregnancy!!

Wow, it flew by!  Today was my last day of this pregnancy and my last day as a mother of one!  We're going in tomorrow at 5 AM to induce this little guy's arrival.  I can't believe it's already here, and I'm a nervous wreck...not so much about the delivery or anything, but more about what it's going to be like managing two little ones.  We'll keep you all posted.  Please send your warm wishes and prayers our way for a healthy birth.

Big Girl Undies!

I have no idea why this thing is making me write in an underlined blue font; bear with me!  Well, we introduced Eleanor to Big Girl Undies last week; thought, we didn't really do it in the traditional way.  I have no idea why I decided to put them on her head like a hat, but she loved it!  How great is this picture of her with underpants on her head and over her pajamas, carrying a purse full of extra pairs of undies, and wearing her Mimi's shoes?!  Later that morning, when I got her up from her nap, I realized that she still had the green pair of undies on!...she'd had them on for hours and had even slept in them!  We'll think about potty training sometime soon after baby brother arrives...have to teach her how one really wears their underwear=)...I suppose we can't have her going off to preschool with underpants on her head!

More Kiddie Pool Action at Mimi and Papa's

All Ellie wants to do at her Mimi and Papa's house (Joe's parents' house) is "go pool."  She LOVES her kiddie pool and ends up playing in it all day every day.  One evening, after her nap (and a long day of fun in the pool), she went outside to play on her jungle gym while we all sat outside bbq-ing.  We kept telling her that she couldn't get in the water, since she was dry and in her clothes; she whined but obeyed...for a while!  I turned away for a few seconds at one point, and sure enough, boom!...she was in the water fully dressed in a flash.  She eventually got sick of the heavy, wet clothes and ended up in her favorite style of dress...nudie cutie!

Great New Find...

Mom and I took Ellie to The Americana, this amazing new outdoor mall/condo complex in Glendale sometime last week.  It was awesome!  The stores are amazing, there's a great little playground for the kids, a trolley ("choo-choo," as Ellie called it) that runs through the whole place, and best of all, there's a waterfall show to music every half hour.  We ate fries, drank Diet Cokes, and just hung out for an hour or so; I can't wait to go back.
